Day 161: I Spy

Assignment: Parallel lines draw the eye. Make a photograph with parallel lines today.

This is where I spent the bulk of my day... in my new classroom.  It looks like a war zone.  This is the before picture.  I'll post after shots when it is all cleaned up.  It is like one of those I Spy books. Can you find the parallel lines?

Day 157: Gridlock

Assignment: Make a photograph that features a grid of some sort. 

Day 135: Lead Me

Assignment: Make a photograph with a strong line that leads the eye through the image.

Day 27: Guitar Hero

 Assignment: Make a photograph that features a very distinct curved line or surface today.

My guitar was my hero tonight as it was 10:00 and I still hadn't taken my photo yet (thanks to my reading class I am taking).  Anyway, great curvy lines here! I'm pretty happy with this one.

Day 7: Let it Snow!

Assignment: Use strong converging lines in a photograph today.  It's your choice whether or not to show the vanishing point.

Here's my take on it.  And... look at all that snow.  Just kidding.  Not too much snow, but it's the first snowfall we've had since I got back from Christmas Break.  It was looking more like fall around here.  Anyway, I choose to make this photo black and white because honestly... the colors out here are very drab.  It was very dull and boring.  The high contrast gives it more character.

Day 4: The Tracks

Assignment: Make a photograph today with a diagonal line leading the viewer's eye through the composition. 

This was a hard shoot for me.  I have the day off work so there was no excuse for a mediocre late-night photo.  I drove all around town looking for something to shoot without inspiration.  And I had my eyes peeled.  Anyway, little did I know what would inspire me most was right next to my house.  When I first moved here, I was a little hesitant to be RIGHT next to train tracks, fearing it would keep me up at night (I'm a light sleeper).  But, most days, I don't even hear the trains.  They never wake me up at night and now, they've given me the vision behind this photo. And take note of the ground... no snow.  January 4th and NO SNOW! I can't believe it!

Day 2: Smooth and Wavy

Assignment: Find an interesting texture today and make a photograph.

Believe it or not, I put a lot of thought into this post.  I wanted to photograph something with an interesting texture that meant a lot to me... but I was struggling finding an interesting angle/shot.  My bedspread and pillows are full of interesting textures and I really wanted to capture that.  But, as I was shooting my bedding, I couldn't help noticing the lamp and doily in the background of some of my photos.  I never thought of SMOOTH when going for TEXTURE, but it absolutely works.  I think the wavy lines and smooth texture complement each other and make for an interesting subject.
