Day 90: Visit to Downtown

I had to go to the library today... more reading! Have I ever told you how much I LOVE public libraries... books... for free (minus the 50 cents for the parking meter)! So great. Downtown Springfield is full of interesting building.  I love the capitol building.  Here's a little sneak peek of what I saw today.  All I had was my phone, so this will have to suffice.

P.S.  Best of all, someone fed the meter today and it had an hour on it! Wahoo! Scored big time.

Day 89: Sprocket

Assignment: Make a photograph that features metal or a metallic surface today.

I was just going to skip this day... I read the topic and knew what I wanted to do... just kept forgetting about it.  So, a week later, I finally took the picture of the day.  And I'm really happy with it. 

Day 88: Looking Out

Assignment: Make a photograph that illustrates being inside today. 

Day 87: Monochrome

Assignment: Make a black and white photograph and go monochrome today. 

So, I remembered to take the picture right before I went to bed.  Oops! Here's what I looked like a few minutes before bed.  Here's one of my favorite B&W pic from the past.  

Day 86: What made me happy today?

Assignment: Today, let's illustrate the emotion of being happy.  Make a photograph that represents happiness to you.

This was actually yesterday's topic but since I put something else up for yesterday... and I really liked this topic, I decided to do it today.  Anyway, my mom sent me a package and it arrived today.  This is what was inside... new CLOTHES! Fun!! Who doesn't love surprise packages?  I sure do.  It was the best surprise. 

Day 85: Basketball with Friends

Today Jonny bought Wii Sports Resort and played some basketball with it.  My friend Katherine has the ball.  And my sister Dani is the blonde on the blue team.   I wish they really were here. :(

Day 84: March Madness

Assignment: Make a photograph of something in motion.  Use blur to help convey the motion you are capturing. 

Yes, I watched a college basketball game. I actually even competed a 2nd chance bracket on Yahoo! I was curious to know about all this Jimmer hype and so I decided to watch the only college basketball game I think I've ever watched last night- BYU against Florida.  It was pretty intense.  Too stressful for me.  The Cougs lost but I got to see what all this Jimmermania was about when he flawlessly shot from WAY behind the 3-point line.  I think that was worth 10 points.  It was fun but in case you were wondering, my bracket is pretty much SHOT! Every single team I picked to win last night lost.   I guess that's what you get for not EVER following basketball. 

Day 83: I think I can... I think I can...

Another food post... I was really excited, more like ecstatic, when I got a bread machine at my bridal shower last year.  I have always wanted one.  I just love a good carb.  Well, since we've been married, I have made bread over and over... and over.  And it has turned out GROSS every time.  It always tricks me because it smells so good and I look inside and see one of three options: 1) the bread is burned, 2) the bread is deflated, and/or 3) it is HARD as a rock (I guess I don't see that but you get the point).   

Anyway, I read reviews of the bread machine and people either love it or hate it.  One reviewer said that people who gave it bad reviews probably didn't start with reading the instructions.  So, I took out the instructions manual and read the whole thing.  I was not going to let the bread machine defeat me.  Anyway, turns out I was being somewhat careless in making the bread.  Apparently you aren't supposed to use warm water but room temp water and you aren't supposed to let the yeast touch the water.  I was just dumping it all in there.  Anyway, TADA! I made BREAD! Real bread.  Edible bread.  And it was delish.  I'm so proud.  Go me!

Day 82: Got My Hair Did

You can't really see it but my lens doesn't allow me to take pictures of myself... too close!  Anyway, it was a steal.  $31 plus tip... got it done at a local hair school.  I love a good bargain almost as much as I love getting my hair done. 

Day 81: Wasted time

Today I had a lot I wanted to do... unfortunately, I spent about 3 hours of it looking for these three photos.  These aren't any photos. They are $70.00 worth of photos printed from the cruise.  You're probably thinking "$70 worth of photos? There better be thousands."  Nope.  Just 3 pictures.  Cruise ships and tourist places rip you off when it coming to capturing memories, that's for sure.

So, I did take pictures today... 3 pictures of the pictures that were missing. 

Oh, and guess where I found the pictures.  Right where they were supposed to be. Go figure.

Day 80: Biking 12.5 Miles

Today was the perfect day to get back on my bike again.  It was a fresh 70-something degrees outside and since I am on my Spring Break, I had to get out.  I biked a little too far... so coming home was painful.  But, it was too beautiful to pass up.  Since I was on my bike, I only had my camera phone to take a picture.  Look at the lake!

Day 79: A Great Day for a Stroll

It was the perfect day to get outside and talk a walk... so that is just what we did.  Along the way, here is what we found. 

 Let's just hope "Neighbor" is their last name.

Day 78: Bedtime!

Day 77: Warm Bed

 

Assignment: Convey warmth in a photograph today. 

This bed is warm.  The sheets are AMAZING.  I hate getting out of it every morning.

Day 76: Reading

 

Assignment: Show your own hand in a photograph today doing something.  Reaching, holding, touching, or making a sign. 

I've been doing a lot of this lately for my Children's Lit class.  Kind of over this book-  The Book of Three.  Note the T.V. on in the background.  I was probably more into that.

Day 75: Afternoon Stroll

Assignment: Make a photograph outdoors without an obvious horizon line.

Jonny and I went for a fun little walk and we found these guys... they were loud!

Day 74: Happy St. Patty's Day... almost!

Assignment: Today's color is green.  Make a photograph dominated by green today.

Before even looking at this assignment, I decided to wear green today (not my cardigan but the shirt underneath).  I know what you are thinking... you wear something other than sweats?? I sure do- but only when I go out or go to work.  Not the most thrilling and creative photo, but here's what I looked like today... NASTY cold and all!

Day 73: So Fresh and So Clean

Assignment: Make a photograph today that illustrates the idea of freshness to you.


Nothing is more reFRESHing than a nice, hot shower.  And that is just what I needed today.  I've got a sore throat and a cold that won't go away.  Nothing ends the day better than a shower, clean towels and a robe.

Day 72: Homemade Ravioli

I married the most amazing man... and chef.  Tonight, he made absolutely delightful homemade ravioli... check this out!

Day 71: Game Night

We had a BBQ and played games with Meckenzie and John this weekend! Tasty food, great company and super fun games. Who dominated at Blokus? That's right... I did! 

Day 70: Random Photo

Assignment: Make a photograph that illustrates randomness in some way today. 

I failed to take a picture today so I am choosing a random picture I found from my computer.  Excellent. 

Day 69: Cheers... for another unit done!

Not too worried about the assignment today because we had something else to celebrate- Jonny finishing up his 2nd to last unit of his 2nd year! Testing week is over... THANK GOODNESS! I hate when he locks himself up in his room to study and only comes out to go to sleep.  Anyway, we went out to Red Lobster (his favorite restaurant) for dinner and had dessert at Dairy Queen.  Have you ever had the mini Blizzards?  Perfect size!  And Midnight Truffle is the must-have flavor!

Day 68: Umbrella, ella, ella!

Assignment: Make a photograph that features water in one way or another today.

I just did rain shots yesterday so I am pulling a picture from yesterday! It fits perfectly.

Day 67: Rain, rain, go away!

Assignment: Make a feeling that conveys a sense of being outdoors today.

It rained today. Blah! I don't like the rain unless I'm snuggled up in bed with flannel PJs on.

Day 66: Red Hot!

Assignment: Today's theme is red.  Red hot? Red paint? Or something else? You decide.  Make your photo and then reply with a link. 

We already had this topic, but luckily for me, my house is completely decorated in red.   Here's another one of my red decorations!

Day 65: SMILE!

Assignment: Make a photograph of a smile today. 

Last minute photo.  I wanted to get a picture of my little niece, Maddie, on Skype and I completely forgot! Oh well... guess you have to get my smile right before going to bed!

Day 64: Lakepointe Grille

I went out with a group of my friends to Lake Pointe Grille for lunch.  They have delicious food.  I ordered a pizza.  Then, later that evening, I went back to Lake Pointe and got a salad and yummy Wisconsin Cheese Soup.  Oh... what a fun day!

Day 63: Decorations

Assignment: Make a photograph of something that you find amusing today. 

Well, maybe this isn't so amusing, but this is what I have been working on every day for the last few weeks.  The church dance decorations.  And it is FINALLY over! Thank goodness.  The theme was "A Night Under the Stars".  I think it looked great!

Day 62: Something to SMILE about

I was so excited about the warm weather today that I decided to skip the daily assignment.  I got to wear THESE today!! Wahoo! I feel like spring is right around the corner. 

Day 61: Musicals

Assignment: What kind of other art do you appreciate? Make a photograph that celebrates it today. 

Well, I cheated on this post.  I did not take a picture today and I kept this topic on my mind and couldn't think of anything... so I looked through my old pictures and found another kind of art that I just ADORE... musicals.  I am obsessed with musicals and I have been fortunate to see a small handful of them.

Day 60: Ostinato

Assignment: Find a repeating pattern today and make a photograph of it.

Too many things came to mind for this topic, but nothing that I could think of could adequately document those ideas... history, my daily routine, my mental to-do list, the stories Jonny tells (he thought of that one)... but how could I capture those on film?  So, without much thought, I took this picture. I do love the piano!  I know this is not the definition of the word "ostinato" but it goes along with the musical theme.
